•  AP Language and Composition 11 Summer Reading assignment:

Read The Things They Carried, by Tim O'Brien.

You need a copy of this book.  Read the novel and be prepared to turn in the assignment on Day 1.  The full assignment can be found here:  https://www.mcssummerreading.com/_files/ugd/470141_718e860b01224cfab7a8e0c2846b7c92.pdf

Expect reading tests and a full in-class essay on the 2nd Friday of the semester on TTTC.

Due when you come to class Day 1:

    1. Turn in your physical copy of the novel.  The chapter "Speaking of Courage" should have DIDLS annotations on each page.  Aim for multiple annotations on each page with explanations of why each annotation is important (see the assignment link above for directions).

    2. Turn in your five paragraphs, each paragraph based on a letter of the "DIDLS" annotation (see the assignment link above for directions).  These can be handwritten, but we are using Turnitin.com this year, so you will end up typing the five paragraphs into a Google doc and submitting it through Turnitin.com

If you have any questions, please email me directly before the first day of class:  lbpowell@madisoncity.k12.al.us

Everyone is responsible for having their summer reading completed and having their assignment and books on the first day of class.
