• This page is for actors & technicians who are interested in joining the International Thespian Society.  The International Thespian Society is an honor society that recognizes the accomplishments and achievements of students who are engaged in educational theatre. In order to become a Thespian, you must secure enough points for induction (see file library on this website), attend meetings, participate in community service each semester & volunteer, participate, act or work on a JCHS play/musical/show each year you are at JCHS.

It costs $45 to join our Thespian Troupe #8070.  Those fees will cover your induction costs through our home office in Cincinnati, OH & will also allow you to receive the magazine Dramatics for one year.  The fee will also cover your honor cord that you will receive prior to graduation...IF you have continued to be a part of Thespian Troupe #8070, attended meetings, completed community service & taken part in our troupes activities.

Students who do not participate in at least ONE JCHS theatre production (in some capacity) during all 4 years of high school, students who do not attend meetings, & students who fail to follow other requirements for Thespians will not receive an honor cord.

If you join the International Thespian Society, you are strongly encouraged to attend the Alabama Thespian Festival (ATF) in February of 2023.  This includes the opportunity to perform in Individual Events (IEs) but also to learn from different professional guest artists who are brought in by Alabama Thespians to lead workshops on a plethora of different theatrical topics that include:  playwriting, movement/physicality, programming, drumming, dance, acting, technical workshops, directing, auditioning, etc.  ATF is also a festival where you can audition for scholarships for colleges/universities (this is for Juniors and Seniors).

Registration for the Alabama Thespian Festival in FEB of 2023 IS CLOSED & full.
