Hello Jets! I teach Astronomy and Earth and Space Science here at JC. I have been teaching since 2020.

Before teaching, I went to the University of Alabama and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology. After graduating from Bama and working at an archaeological park, I moved back to my hometown outside Huntsville and got my Master of Arts in Teaching at UAH. Since then, I've been teaching astronomy at James Clemens. Moving back home to Huntsville and starting my career as a science teacher was the best decision I've ever made.

My teaching philosophy is that students can only excel when they are actively engaged in their own learning. My job is to facilitate that learning, and students must meet me halfway. Students will make their own observations and predictions in class, and at times this can be challenging. I believe the most important thing to foster learning is mutual respect and kindness between the student and teacher, and I will always do my best to lead by example.

Helping students become connected to our night sky is a passion of mine, and I'm very happy to be teaching astronomy again this year. Astronomy can be a tough subject, but the fascination it inspires makes the effort all the more worth it.

My hobbies include gardening, baking, reading, and stargazing in my hammock.

Along with Shelby Treadway, I co-sponsor the Outdoor Classroom and Jets Wildlife Club.
