Welcome to Liberty! I am so excited to serve as one of the assistant principals at LMS. I have been blessed to be a part of the LMS family since 2009. I was born and raised in Scottsboro, Alabama. I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees at Auburn University, educational specialist degree at Middle Tennessee State University, and a doctoral degree at Samford University. I am honored to serve as an Assistant Principal at Liberty! I am excited and devoted to supporting our staff, students, and community.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from The University of Alabama – ROLL TIDE! I have been an educator and mentor for over 15 years, serving as a Special Education teacher, Educational Consultant, and a MAAP.

Mr. Cyrus Swearingen
Cyrus Swearingen is proud to serve as the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Liberty, where he is dedicated to fostering a positive, supportive, and high-achieving school culture. With a strong background in education and leadership, Mr. Swearingen is passionate about building relationships with students, staff, and the Liberty family. Before stepping into administration, Mr. Swearingen taught at James Clemens High School, Bob Jones High School, and Liberty Middle School for over 10 years and has 25 years coaching experience. These experiences have given him a well-rounded perspective on the academic, athletic, and developmental needs of students at multiple grade levels.
He brings a student-centered approach to every aspect of his work, whether supporting classroom instruction, promoting athletics, or ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all. His leadership philosophy centers on teamwork, accountability, and continuous growth—both on and off the field.
Mr. Swearingen is married to Tosha Swearingen, and together they have two children, Riley and Parker. Outside of school, he enjoys staying active and spending quality time with his family. He is committed to helping every student succeed and is honored to be part of the Liberty Lions team.
