• LMS Competition Chess Team 2022-23

    Every student who would like to be named to the Liberty Middle School Chess Team for the 2022-2023 school year must complete this application by April 25th. If you make the team, you are expected to compete in a minimum of 4 tournaments during the school year.


    CHESSKID: If you do not have a ChessKid gold account, one will be provided for you for the summer tryout period (just let Mr. Pahman know if you need one). If you do have a ChessKid gold account, you will provide your CK Username in the application field below. You will be added to a LMS Tryout Club on ChessKid where your work during tryouts will be monitored.


    Puzzles
    Every applicant will be required to solve at least 100 chess puzzles on ChessKid between Sunday May 1st- Sunday May 8th (10 p.m.). Feel free to solve more than 100, but a minimum 100 puzzles solved correctly is required.


    Tryout Tournament - Sunday May 15th at 2 p.m.
    The LMS Tryout Club will hold an online tournament on ChessKid on Sunday, May 16 at 2 p.m. The time control will be Game 15 minutes for 5 rounds. You will be assigned points at the conclusion of the tournament according to your placement in the final results. First place will
    receive the most points, and last place will receive the least points.


    After reviewing results from the puzzle requirement and online tournament, the coach will determine if a further simultaneous over-the-board chess match will be necessary before the team is announced.
