    Classroom Expectations

    1. Enter class with a positive mindset for learning.

    2. Be in your seat when the tardy bell rings.

    3. Bring chromebooks, chargers, notebooks and any other supplies with you.

    4. Treat others as you want to be treated.

    5. Food and Gum are not allowed in classrooms. 

    6. Phones will not be allowed out in classrooms. 

    7. Behave in a manner conducive to learning for all.

    8. Show respect for yourself and others at all times.

    9. Follow all classroom procedures.

    10. Follow all rules listed in your LMS Handbook and Madison City Schools Code of Conduct

    Progressive Discipline (LMS Policy)

    Step 1: Verbal warning 

    Step 2: Student/teacher conference 

    Step 3: Parent contact/conference

    Step 4: Detention and a parent contact

    Step 5: Referral to administration for repeat Class I violations and initial Class II and Class III offenses (Madison City Schools Code of Conduct


    Severe disruptions or behaviors will result in an immediate administrative referral.

    Grading Policy

    (MCS Policy)

    60% =  Assessments (Tests, Essays, Projects)

    40% = Daily Grades (Quizzes, Homework, Classwork, and Participation)  


    All work/steps must be shown to ensure full credit on any assignment.  Without documentation showing how the problems were solved, credit may not be given, even if answers are correct. 


    For assessments, an Error Analysis opportunity will be provided.

    Late Work Policy

    All work is expected to be turned in complete and on time. Late work will be accepted for credit until the end of the instructional unit with a 25% deduction in points after the unit is complete. If an extension is needed due to an extenuating circumstance, please work with the teacher to decide on an adjusted due date. Communication is required to secure possible points if an assignment is to be turned in late.


    A final due date will be set for any missing assignments at the end of each term to provide time for grading.

    Make-up Work/ Test Policy

    Students with excused absences will be allowed to make-up all work within three days of returning

    to school. It is the student’s responsibility to ask for make-up work. Students should check

    Schoology for daily work, then ask the teacher for clarification if needed. Work that is not

    made up will become a zero (including quizzes/tests which need to be done in the classroom).

    Technology

    And Cell Phone Policy

    Effective July 1, 2025, the use, operation, or possession of Wireless Communications Devices including but not limited to cellular telephones, tablet computers, laptop computers, pagers, gaming devices, smart watches, earphones or headphones in school buildings or on school grounds during the Instructional Day, is prohibited. Violation of Board policy with respect to such use, operation, or possession of Wireless Communication Devices will constitute a Class II violation. Madison City Schools has outlined an Electronic/Wireless Device Policy (Policy 6.20) on page 137 of the MCS Policy Manual.


    Students should bring their MCS chromebooks and chargers to class each day. Teachers monitor student activity and participation; however, students are responsible for their activity on school-issued devices and using their MCS accounts.

    ● Headphones / earbuds with auxiliary jack cord (no wireless) 

    ● Pencil Pouch with plenty of pencils 

    ● Colored Pencils

    ● Pair of Scissors 

    ● 2+ Glue Sticks

    Homework

    Homework will consist of any unfinished classwork. Considering they use their class time wisely, they shouldn’t have homework.
