Hello and welcome to the Medical Academy of Bob Jones!!! I teach in both pathways of the medical academy. In the Health Science Pathway, I have taught Human Body Structures and Functions, Foundations of Health Science and Orientation to Health Science. In the Project Lead the Way Pathway, I have taught Principles of Biomedical Science (1st class), Human Body Systems (2nd class) and Medical Interventions (3rd class). Some of you may end up having me each year for 3 years!
I have an extensive background in health care. I began as a registered nurse and a travel nurse for the first 12 years of my career. I returned to graduate school to become a nurse practitioner and practiced at an internal medicine practice in Decatur for 7 years. During that time, I started their Diabetes Education Center. In 2003, I began working for Medtronic Diabetes and an insulin pump trainer and later as a Diabetes Clinical Manager. In 2012, I came to Bob Jones High School and have been working in their health science program since that time.
During the summers, my family and I spend weeks traveling the United States with a pop-up camper, visiting national parks. I also love to exercise, garden and craft. My family and I attend St John the Baptist Catholic Church.
You may have a chance to meet our rescue dog, Holly. She will occasionally visit my classroom.
I look forward to teaching you this year!! I know the material is challenging, but you will definately learn a lot this year!!
