Mrs. Elizabeth Cairns

Mrs. Elizabeth Cairns is glad to be teaching 11th grade English at Bob Jones high school! She grew up in Chattanooga, TN, and attended Sewanee: The University of the South, where she majored in English and minored in Psychology. She also earned a Master of Education in Secondary English at UT Chattanooga. Her educational experience is varied—she has taught 8th, 11th, and 12th grade English, Yearbook,  and reading and writing at the community college level. She has also tutored at all levels, homeschooled her children, subbed long term in elementary schools, and worked as an AP testing coordinator. Her passion is teaching students to understand themselves, others, and the world as they prepare to leave high school. In her free time, you can find her reading, playing games (especially trivia), hiking, walking her two dogs (a chill Golden Retriever mix and a crazy Australian Shepherd puppy,) traveling, and her family. Her husband currently serves as an Army Chaplain at Redstone Arsenal, and she has two teenagers who attend Bob Jones (10th and 11th grades,) and a 7th grader who is at Discovery Middle. She is teaching American literature to high school juniors--her favorite.
