Bob Jones High School Math Team
Thank you for your interest in joining math team! Math team is an excellent way to expand your mathematical and logic skills! We will learn strategies that will not only help you in math team competitions, but also on tests like the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. Our goal is also that you will learn new skills, enjoy the beauty of mathematics, expand your logic and reasoning skills, and compete competitively across the state and nation. You will, however, have to work very hard. You cannot be competitive without investing time in solving problems!
Every student will have opportunities to learn and compete on written tests. Ciphering positions are highly competitive. Most competitions only allow four students to cipher. Especially on the comprehensive team where there are three grade levels of students to choose from (10th, 11th, and 12th), excellent math students may still not be chosen to cipher yet. Just because you weren’t chosen now doesn’t mean you won’t be able to cipher soon. Keep working!
Math team practices are every Wednesday after school until 5:00 in N112. Please try to be at every practice. Let me know if you have to miss for any reason.
