NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY (NAHS)
For high school students in grades 9-12
In 1978, the National Art Education Association began the NAHS program to inspire and recognize students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art. The program supports members in their efforts to attain the highest standards in art scholarship, character, and service and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.Members will be expected to complete no less than 8 service hours in an Art field. There will be ample opportunities for students to complete this requirement. Members may miss no less than 2 meetings/year.
There is an induction ceremony in the spring for new members where honor cords are distributed for graduating seniors.
Members must be enrolled in, at least, their second Art course, and carry no less than a B in the courses.
We have the prettiest honor cord too!
Officers are elected at the beginning of the school year and will server for that school year. They must be available to attend all NAHS official meetings.
President-runs meetings, sets dates, communicates with other honor societies, and various other duties
Vice President-assists the president, searches for service hour opportunities, makes sure NAHS meetings are publicized, and various other duties
Treasurer-collects dues and fees and is in regular contact with the school bookkeeper, helps renew the chapter at the national level, and various other duties
Secretary-keeps a data base of service hours, keeps track of meeting attendees, and various other duties.
