Graduation Plans

April 20, 2021

Dear Senior Parents,

We know this is a very exciting time for your child and family. Due to the COVID pandemic, we are still operating under some constraints, but we are very pleased to be able to provide a graduation ceremony. After hearing from students, we know that it is the desire of the majority of seniors to graduate as an entire class. Our team has worked diligently to provide this opportunity for our seniors. We are drawing closer to the graduation date and many families are making plans. Therefore, we would like to share the latest information for the graduation ceremony.

Graduation will be on our original date of Monday, May 17. The first ceremony will be for Bob Jones High School at 3 p.m. James Clemens High School will have its ceremony at 8 p.m. As of now, the graduations will be held at Alabama A&M University (AAMU) Louis Crews Stadium with a rain date of Tuesday, May 18. Each senior will be given 8 tickets for guests to attend the ceremony at AAMU.

In previous years, graduation has been held at the VBC. Currently, the VBC is still operating under COVID guidelines of 25 percent capacity which would not allow all seniors to graduate at the same time. If these guidelines are lifted before May 17, we will look at the possibility of moving graduation to the VBC to eliminate the possibility of weather concerns with an outdoor venue.

If graduation is moved to the VBC, the date would remain May 17 and the times would remain the same (Bob Jones at 3 pm and James Clemens at 8 pm). Our plan is for each senior to receive 8 tickets for guests if graduation is held at the VBC. However, if guest tickets will be limited, we will not move graduation to the VBC.

We are so proud of our seniors, and we hope that this solution will adequately allow your family to celebrate this wonderful occasion.

Sincerely,

Ed Nichols
