• PTA
     
    PTA supports the school in several ways, such as classroom startup funds, library materials, the city-wide Reflections contest, student achievement awards, teacher appreciation, and school upgrades. In order to continue to be a successful PTA, we need your support. We are solely funded by memberships & donations. 
     
    There are several ways that you can help us during the school year:
     
    • Join the PTA: Membership fees are $10 per person. Memberships are accepted year-round and come with no obligation to volunteer. Encourage grandparents, friends, & other family to join!
     
    • Volunteer: Your time is such a valuable way to show support. Providing food items for special events, working for a couple of hours on picture day, or volunteering in a classroom are just a few ways to volunteer. If interested, please contact Karen Purser, VP of Volunteers at karenpurser@yahoo.com.
     
    • Make a donation: The PTA provides startup money for teachers each year, funds the awards programs at the end of the year, and continually supports the school while keeping fundraising to a minimum. Please consider making a one-time donation of $25 (or more if you like!). This is a tax deductible donation for which we can provide you a receipt and recognition on the Discovery Middle PTA Facebook Page. 
     
    • Box Tops and Labels for Education: Help support your school by clipping labels from grocery items you have at home!  Box Tops and Labels for Education are accepted year-round and can be turned into your student's first block teacher or to the front office. If every student brought in just four Box Tops this year, we could receive approximately $500! Encourage other friends & family to send in their labels too.

    • Amazon Smile: Discovery Middle School PTA has been set up as a charitable organization for Amazon Smile. Amazon will donate 0.5% from eligible AmazonSmile purchases. Please go to www.smile.amazon.com, login using your amazon.com login and go to "Your Account" > Settings > Click on "Change your charity" and enter Discovery Middle School PTA. Donations will be deposited directly to the PTA bank account. It's super easy! 
     
    • Support by Grocery Shopping: If you shop at Publix or Kroger you can support the PTA just by swiping a card! The DMS PTA Publix Partners card and the Kroger Community Reward card are available at the front desk of the school. Pick up an extra for family members! 
     
    DID YOU KNOW? You can swipe more than one organization's card when you make grocery purchases? For instance, swipe both the DMS PTA card and the DMS Band or Choir card and BOTH groups earn funds! No need to choose.
