My name is Michelle Breeden and I have been in education since 2006. I am a native of Madison and a product of Madison City schools, attending Liberty and Bob Jones. I am one of the founding teachers here at Journey Middle School and have loved every minute of being part of building this school. Previoulsy I taught at Liberty Middle School for 17 years. I was a presenter at the Association of Middle Level Education National Conference in 2016. I have won several grants, including the Arthur Orr 21st Century grant, the Madison Street Festival and the Alabama A&M Literacy Grant. I also won TVA STEM Grant worth $3500 in 2019. In 2017, I received my National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Social Science and the TIG Award from the Enrichment Center.  I was awarded the VFW Teacher of the Year in 2019 and the Liberty Teacher of the Year in 2020. Through the years, I have coached a number of sports including dance team, competition cheer and girls soccer. I coached girls' soccer at Liberty for 12 years and had numerous championships and awards before I passed on the role to a former player of mine. I currently am the Social Studies department head and Assistant Athletic Director over Spirit Teams and Concessions at Journey. 

I currently live in the Madison community with my son, Liam, who attends Heritage Elementary school.
