Hi all! My name is Mrs. Whitten, and I am SO excited to teach 8th-grade math and coach soccer at Journey Middle School this year! I am originally from Iva, SC, and moved to Huntsville in 2023 with my husband, Evan. I attended North Greenville University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematical Education. I also attended Western Governors University, where I received a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction. This will be my 4th year teaching and 3rd year coaching soccer. This will be my 2nd year at Journey Middle School teaching 8th grade math! Before I taught at Journey, I taught Algebra 1 and Geometry at the high school level. 

 

In July, my husband and I welcomed a beautiful baby boy named Wyatt. Outside of school, I enjoy working out, painting, reading, and spending time with friends and family. 

 

I am so excited about building new relationships and supporting each of my students in their learning journey this year! Go JAGS!
