Hello, and welcome to Journey Middle School!

I'm thrilled to be your art teacher for the 2024-2025 school year and can't wait to embark on this creative journey with each of you. Art has always been my passion, and my path in this field has been a colorful one.

I am a native of Huntsville, Alabama, and graduated from Hazel Green High School. I earned my B.A. in Art with a minor in Education from Athens State University, graduating summa cum laude. I completed my Master of Education in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama, and in 2021, I achieved National Board Certification.

This is my second year at Journey Middle School. Before that, I taught at Discovery Middle School. Over the years, I have taught a wide range of art courses, including Introduction to Visual Art, Intermediate Visual Art, Advanced Art, Sculpting Art, Mixed Media Art, and Introduction to Fashion Design.

Outside the classroom, my world revolves around my wonderful family. I'm happily married to my husband, Derek, and we have two grown children, Parker and Disney. My artistic interests include sculpting, drawing, and painting. My favorite mediums are charcoal, pastels, colored pencils, gouache, and oil paints.
