Ms. LaParis James
Welcome!
I am LaParis James, one of the 6th grade English Language Arts teachers. This is my sixth year teaching and my sixth year being a part of the Madison City Schools team. While born in Decatur, Alabama, I consider myself a native of Huntsville, Alabama. I've lived in Huntsville since elementary school and even stayed in the area to complete both of my college degrees. For my bachelor's degree, I attended the lovely Alabama A&M University where I studied Communications Media. My love for television, movies, and writing led me down this path. Here, I had the chance to write scripts, create short films, as well as intern at a news and radio station. While film is a passion of mine, I also knew I wanted to teach, so I decided to go back to school. I received my graduate degree from The University of Alabama in Huntsville, where I studied English. Here, I had the opportunity to teach college freshmen the basics of writing. Ultimately, I knew my love for reading and writing would lead me to a career in teaching students to love the two as well.
While I love reading and writing, I also love to travel! I spend much of my breaks traveling around the globe. Internationally, I've been to Dubai, Jamaica, London, and Paris. As far as domestic travel goes, I've been to New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Houston, St. Thomas, and more. I feel it is important to not only see the world but to get the chance to experience other cultures and learn from them. There's so much to see on this beautiful planet!
Lastly, I am excited to share my love of reading and writing with my 6th grade ELA students. We are going to have a great year!
