Discovery’s Science Olympiad team attended the first-ever James Clemens Student-Run Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 6. While many of our team members were unable to attend due to the math tournament and the fact that it’s still very early in our season, the students who competed represented Discovery incredibly well.

We joked that the tournament felt like a “mini–States,” with many of the same strong teams we see each year at the Alabama State Tournament. The competition was tough, but our Olympians rose to the challenge.

We are proud to share that our students medaled in the following events:

• Crime Busters – Emilia Ng, 1st Place
• Heredity – Emilia Ng, 3rd Place
• Meteorology – Emilia Ng & Jackson McCloud, 1st Place
• Mission Possible – Ethan Chandler & Brinkley Thuenen, 3rd Place
• Write It, Do It – Jack Flippo & Everett Ragland, 3rd Place
