Mrs. Amy Ramsdell
Hello! My name is Amy Ramsdell, and I am thrilled to be part of the Journey Middle School Science Department, where I teach 6th and 7th grade science.
I hold two bachelor’s degrees from Athens State; one in Psychology and the second in Biology/Secondary Education. I also hold a Master’s degree in Science from Northeastern State University (Oklahoma), and a STEM Leadership Certificate from Columbia University Teachers College and NASA. I have earned a National Certificate in STEM Teaching and was recently honored with National Board Certification. Being a lifelong learner is central to who I am, both personally and professionally.
This year marks my 18th year teaching middle school, with experience primarily in Life Science, as well as Physical Science, Forensics, Environmental Science, Health, STEM, and Zoology, Career Preparation, and Digital Publishing Tools. I have also coached Greenpower for the past three years and am excited to continue that work here at JMS, helping students apply science and engineering concepts in hands-on, real-world ways.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Marc. We love cooking, riding motorcycles, working out, watching movies, and hanging out with our two cats, Pickles and Kevin. We are also proud parents of two adult sons—Joshua, a historian and author, and Zachary, a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Joshua and I share a creative hobby called aquascaping, which I’m always happy to talk about—just ask!
I’m looking forward to an exciting year of curiosity, discovery, and growth. I can’t wait to get to know our students and families.
Go JAGS! 🐆🔬
