Mrs. Wendy Pinto
Hello students and parents!
My name is Wendy Pinto and I am excited about joining Journey this year! I discovered my passion for nursing at a very young age while caring for my family when they would become ill. This has been a calling for me and the reason for pursuing various healthcare related degrees through time. My professional journey began as a patient care technician and certified nurse assistant. Through this hard work and dedication, I earned an undergraduate degree in Nursing at UAH. I became a nurse supervisor upon graduation and truly enjoyed making a difference in people’s lives. I found my calling for teaching through a multitude of volunteering activities at Madison City Schools, as my own children are also enrolled in the district. Outside the classroom, I enjoy biking, gardening, and watching movies with my family. I have called Madison, Alabama home with my husband, and two children since 2012.
I believe that middle school is a critical period for developing scientific curiosity and critical thinking skills. My classroom is founded on the principle that students learn best through hands-on exploration and real-world problem- solving. I hope I can make a positive impact on my students by promoting lifelong wellness, building fundamental life skills, and inspiring them toward diverse and rewarding healthcare careers.
Classroom Approach
In my classroom, students can be found:
- Learning about the various healthcare fields
- Participating in collaborative healthcare challenges
- Collaborating in real-world research projects and hands-on activities
- Supporting each other to capture the essence of healthcare
- Practicing essential healthcare skills such as BP/O2 monitoring, CPR, and others.
