Biography

Hello! My name is Garrett Bentley. I was born in Decatur, Alabama and I graduated from Ardmore High School. Shortly after graduating from high school, I decided to join the Marine Corps. During my 8 years in the Marines, I deployed several times to the Middle East and Central Asia. Additionally, I conducted diplomatic security in Tokyo, Japan and Moscow, Russia. After receiving an honorable discharge from the military, I moved back to North Alabama to attend classes at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). I graduated from UAH with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education/English in 2023.

I love teaching, and I’m thrilled to be here. When I’m not in the classroom, I like to spend my time reading, working out, or doing something outdoors.

Experience

I began teaching at Discovery Middle School in January 2024. Prior to that, I was a student teacher at the Academy of Academics and Arts, Madison County High School, and Austin High School.
