Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Tammy Fiscus

Hello and welcome to Journey Middle School. I'm Tammy Fiscus, and this year I teach Math 7, Accelerated Math 6 & Math 7, Intro to Chess, and Math Explore. I started my teaching career at Rainbow Elementary, teaching 6th grade in 2005. During my seven years there, I taught everything: math, science, social studies, reading, and writing. I enjoyed each subject, but my passion was math, so I became certified to teach the subject in middle school. Previously, I taught seventh grade math at Liberty Middle School for ten years before moving to Journey. I became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2019, and this year I will be working toward maintaining my certificate. I earned my master's degree in Learning Design and Technology at the University of West Alabama in 2022, and I will be using that degree as I work towards further edtech certifications.

I have been married to my husband for  32 years, and we have two daughters: Kirsten, who is 30 and a journalist and photojournalist for the Nashville Tennessean, and Kaitlin, who is 27 and a freelance artist. Originally from Indiana, we have lived in Madison since 2001. Both of our daughters are proud graduates of Madison City Schools.
