• The National Archery in the Schools Program at Journey Middle School is a program aimed at improving educational performance among students in grades 6th – 8th. Through it, students are learning focus, self-control, discipline, patience, and the life lessons required to be successful in the classroom and in life. It is an activity that doesn’t discriminate based on popularity, athletic skill, gender, size, or academic ability. It’s a different kind of team sport and is open to any student. Tryouts are held in the fall. Meeting days and times are to be determined. If you have any questions or would like more information, contact Coach Fiscus.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Congratulations to everyone who made the 25/26 JMS Archery Team! I want to thank everyone who tried out. There are people who would like to be on the team, but they do not put themselves out there to try. Whether you made the team or not, you stepped out of your comfort zone, and that says a lot about you!

As I was going over the data from the tryouts, I decided to have two teams this year: a competition team and a building team.

    • The competition team will cost $150 and include equipment usage, an embroidered shirt (I have them designed and ready to order from a local company), and tournament fees up to and including Regionals. State and Nationals will be extra.
    • The building team will cost $50 to cover equipment usage. Most of the practices will be on Saturdays. For the remainder of this term, the building team will practice separately from the competition team to build foundational skills. In the spring term , they will practice with the competition team to learn from the other archers and start building relationships going into the 26/27 team. I know this is a bit different than you expected, and if you would rather pass, I completely understand. Please let me know ASAP if you decide not to participate in the building team.

A parent meeting for both the competition and the building teams will be held on Tuesday 10/28 at 5:45 in the JMS Cafeteria. Please use door #22.
