I am so excited to be a part of the Midtown Wildcat Family, and I am looking forward to our year together!
I graduated with a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2013. It has been an honor to be a part of Madison City Schools for the past 11 years. I taught 1st and 3rd grade at Mill Creek for 7 years and have been a Reading Coach at Horizon for the past 4 years. I obtained my National Board Certification in 2018. I believe that reading should be at the center of every classroom and am committed to making all students successful readers.
Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a Child Life Specialist for 10 years. I worked with cancer patients and families in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and burn victims and families in Birmingham. I also worked in Huntsville with children having surgery. I graduated from Florida State University with a Master of Science degree in Child Development with a concentration in Child Life Studies.
I have been married to my husband, Trav, for 20 years, and we have 2 daughters - Alex will be a junior and Lucy a freshman at James Clemens High School this year. I am an avid college football fan. I cheer for the Florida State Seminoles and the Auburn Tigers. I love to read and spend time at the beach.
