Kate Francis
Hello, my name is Ms. Francis and I am starting my 23rd year of teaching and my first year teaching in the Madison City Schools! My family recently relocated to Madison by way of Northern Virginia, by way of Tampa, Florida, and by way of Northern California (where I am originally from)! I am super excited to be teaching music at Midtown Elementary and thrilled that I get to make music with every student at the school.
I come from a family of musicians where both my parents are music teachers and my brother is a professional cellist! I started playing violin when I was 4 years old and decided I wanted to be a teacher after meeting my first grade teacher, Mrs. Cramner. Sometime in high school, I switched to the viola and that is the instrument I play and love.
My husband, Nathan and I have an 11-year-old son, Thomas, who is starting 6th grade here in Madison. When all my work is done, I enjoy exploring the area where we live. Currently, I am on a quest to find the perfect cup of coffee and I like treasure hunting in thrift stores.
