Welcome ASTROS! My name is Eliza Lemus Aybar, and I am the Spanish teacher at Columbia Elementary. I work with students across grade levels to help them develop a love for language and culture through engaging, meaningful instruction. I am excited to begin my ninth year at CES. Before becoming the Spanish teacher, I had the pleasure of teaching fourth grade for five years. 

I graduated from James Clemens High School, (Go Jets!) and then went on to earn my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from The University of Alabama in Huntsville. I love teaching and am passionate about helping students grow in confidence as they learn Spanish and explore new cultures. I can’t wait to watch my students grow and discover the joy of learning Spanish this year.

I am married to my husband, Alex, and we have one wonderful child. I love spending time with my family, RV camping, and traveling whenever we can. I’m so grateful to be part of the Columbia family and can’t wait to share a year full of learning, laughter, and growth with my students!
