• Welcome to the Heritage Elementary Outdoor Classroom! Our Outdoor Classroom was established in October 2019 by our Heritage students, teachers, and community. It includes several learning stations, such as box turtle habitat, wildflower meadow, sensory garden, frog and toad bog, pollinator garden, butterfly garden, caterpillar garden, songbird sanctuary, cardinal directions sign, and weather station. The outdoor classroom is maintained by students and community members and used for hands on education and environmental learning during the school year. We invite our community members to enjoy our outdoor classroom, and ask that you please treat the grounds with care and respect.

  • A huge thank you to our outdoor classroom partner, April Waltz and the Alabama Wildlife Federation, who have guided our outdoor classroom project from Day 1 and continue to provide support! Click here to visit their website which is full of wonderful environmental resources, and consider purchasing their wildlife car tag to help support the Alabama Wildlife Federation!
