Ms. Kiley Rikard

I am so excited to be the assistant principal at Mill Creek Elementary!  I joined the teaching profession in 2000 after dreaming of being a teacher my entire life.  I taught second, third, and fourth grades and was the Academic Coach at a fantastic school in Georgia. Then, I moved back to my home state of AL to join the Mill Creek faculty and staff in 2016.  I taught 1st, 4th, and was an EL teacher before becoming the assistant principal.  I knew the Mill Creek family was special the moment I walked through these doors.

Growing up in a home of educators, I have enjoyed the role of teacher and student throughout my career.  I received a BA in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Converse College, a MA in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University, an EdS in Curriculum and Instruction from Brenau University, and a Class A Certification in Instructional Leadership from the University of North Alabama.  I also have my National Board Certification.  My highest honor to date is being chosen as the 2021 Madison City Teacher of the Year.

I have two awesome cats named Jasper and Zelie, who are my only children, and act accordingly.  I love to read, swim, wander Target, and go to the movies!  One of my favorite things to do is to travel and learn about new places!  The families at Mill Creek have been so generous in sharing their culture and traditions with me.  I look forward to making many memories with new students in the future.  I am so proud to be a Maverick!
