Horizon Safety Patrol
Horizon is excited to continue the Safety Patrol Program. The primary purpose of the program is to enhance the safety of our students. In addition, this program will promote the development of leadership skills and good citizenship qualities.
Open to 3rd-5th grades.
Must be able to be at school by 7:10am and stay until 3pm.
Must complete pre-enrollment form.

Yearbook
Interested in Photography or Creating Media? Join the Yearbook Staff/Club to contribute to capturing memories that will last a lifetime. Yearbook staff members will help create and publish the Horizon Elementary Yearbook for 2022-2023.
Open to 4th and 5th grade students only.
Students will have an opportunity to submit an application to join the staff after school starts.

Best Buddies
Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501© (3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment,
leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).Best Buddies is open to any students in grades 3-5. All students must complete a membership application to participate in
Best Buddies. The form collects contact information as well as parent/caregiver consent for participation. The membership

Eagle Ambassadors
Are you interested in being an EA (Eagle Ambassador)?
Eagle Ambassadors is for 4th and 5th grade students. EAs will be the "face" of Horizon taking special guests on tours of our school and speaking at school-wide assemblies. EAs will serve as role models for younger students and showcase what it means to be a leader.

Campus Clean Up
Would you like to help keep Horizon looking awesome? Join Horizon's Campus Clean Up Club! We will meet once a week to pick up trash and clean an area of the school.
One will meet on Wednesday mornings at 7:10 a.m. with Mrs. Bero. The afternoon section will meet with Mrs. Warnell during the Expanded Day time after school (just for students who participate in Expanded Day.)If your child will be in the morning section, it will be important to bring your child on time, so that we can leave our book bags in Mrs. Bero's classroom and go out to the campus to clean up.We will meet rain or shine. If it is raining, we will work inside on art projects to encourage the student body to be neat or recycle, etc. Club will end at 7:35 so students can get to class before the 7:40 bell.Equipment needed: I have extra gloves to share, but your child is welcome to bring or wear his/her own. I also have trash bags. Closed toe shoes preferred.Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 7 at 7:10. FCA
This club is designed to bring our students closer to Jesus Christ by teaching and practicing everyday truths from His Word. FCA is a voluntary club. We will meet, pray, read from the word of God, fellowship with other believers, and hear a lesson presented by a local minister. Our goals are to demonstrate Christ-like wholeness, privately, and publicly, to model Jesus' example of serving, to express our unity in Christ in all relationships, and to honor and glorify God in all we do. This group is non-denominational and only focuses on the basic truths found in the Bible.

Math Team
If you would like to be challenged and want to learn higher level math, come and join the fun!! Ms. Meyer will be having Math Team meetings for 4th and 5th grade students on Wednesdays from 2:40 to 3:50. We wil also be competing in competitions throughout the year.

4H
4H believes in learning by doing. In this club, we will explore topics such as animals and agriculture, creative arts, environmental education, healthy living, leadership, citizenship, and science and technology. The activities will be hands-on and there will also be opportunities for you to lead as a 4H club officer.

Horizon Grows
Become a part of Horizon's rich outdoor program. In association with master gardeners of northern Alabama and the Alabama Wildlife Federation, students will gain knowledge through real-life, hands-on experiences and foster their passion for the outdoors.

Chess Club
The Horizon Competition Chess Team provides students interested in Chess an opportunity to study under a chess master and improve their competition chess skills. Students are required to compete in two tournaments per year and must also have membership in the Madison City Chess League and the USCF organization. We meet after school on Wednesdays until 4:00pm. The first practice will be on Wednesday, September 14.
