The Bucket Drumming Club is for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Bucket Drumming teaches students to work as a team to play music together on drums made of buckets. All music is written specifically for our students by Mrs. Truesdail.

Campus Clean Up
Would you like to help keep Horizon looking awesome? Join Horizon's Campus Clean Up Club! We will meet once a month to pick up trash and clean an area of the school. This club is open to all grades Kindergarten through 5th!
We will meet on the first Monday of every month. Our first meeting will be September 9, 2024 after school.
We will meet rain or shine. If it is raining, we will work inside and help our custodians with trash collection and cleaning different areas of the school.Equipment needed: Child Sized Gardening Gloves. Chess Club
There are two chess clubs at Horizon. The competition team and recreational club. The competition team meets weekly from 2:45 pm - 3:45pm. The recreational team meets twice a month from 2:45 pm - 3:30 pm.
To participate in the competition team students must be in grades 1-5. To participate in recreational club students must be in grades 2-5.
There is a fee for competition team which must be paid by the first meeting to participate. You will then receive tournament information by email. The student needs to participate in at least 4 tournaments for the year. It is the parent's responsibility to register and transport their child to the events. Parents are required to stay at tournaments as this is NOT an official school function.
There are no fees for recreational club or required tournament participation. This club will only meet at school and not participate in tournaments.
Students must be picked up promptly in front of the school at club dismissal, or they will be sent to Extended Day after school care and incur a fee.
Students must exhibit excellent behavior in order to participate in either club. If behavior becomes an issue, the student will be given a warning and the parents notified. If the student continues to cause disruptions or misbehaves, they will be removed from the club from that point forward.
Registration for both clubs will begin August 27th during the PTA Meeting.
The recreational club has a maximum of 20 students.

Debate Team
The Horizon Debate Team can help students develop communication and persuasion skills, and learn about current events, civics, and political science. Students can participate in team debates and one MCS competition in March, and practice techniques such as speech, persuasion, and critical thinking.
This club is open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.
The first club meeting will be on September 12, 2024.

Drama Club
Drama Club is an after school extracurricular activity for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students designed to engage students in the performing arts and theatre.
Drama Club encourages creativity, public speaking, dramatization, movement, risk taking, and social skills. The final result is a wonderful performance in the spring. Previous shows include "Pan!", "Cinderella", "Snow White", and "Little Red." Students gain a sense of pride and accomplishment when they hear that, much deserved, applause!

Eagle Ambassadors
Are you interested in being an EA (Eagle Ambassador)?
Eagle Ambassadors is for 4th and 5th grade students. EAs will be the "face" of Horizon taking special guests on tours of our school and speaking at school-wide assemblies. EAs will serve as role models for younger students and showcase what it means to be a leader.

Eagles Sing
Eagles Sing is dedicated to fostering a love for music among our 4th and 5th grade students. Through engaging rehearsals and performances, it aims to develop a love of singing and confidence in its members.

ENN - Eagle News Network
ENN is a team of 4th and 5th Graders who will film a weekly morning announcements show that will air on Friday mornings.
Students must complete this application, have one teacher recommendation, and audition with Ms. Walden depending on the desired position.
Students will meet on Monday's after school until 4:00 pm to film the morning show. Every student MUST be picked up in the carline at 4:00. Late pickup could result in dismissal from the team.
Students will complete tasks such as writing weekly announcements, delivering morning announcements to the school, and interviewing students and faculty.
A character contract must be signed and followed through in order to be part of this club. Please contact Ms. Walden for more information.

We are excited to announce that FCA will begin in September at Horizon! It will be open to all Horizon students.

This club is designed to bring our students closer to Jesus Christ by teaching and practicing everyday truths from His Word. FCA is a voluntary club. We will meet, pray, read from the word of God, fellowship with other believers, and hear a lesson presented by a local minister. Our goals are to demonstrate Christ-like wholeness, privately, and publicly, to model Jesus' example of serving, to express our unity in Christ in all relationships, and to honor and glorify God in all we do. This group is non-denominational and only focuses on the basic truths found in the Bible.

- FCA will begin with See You At The Pole on Wednesday, September 25th at 7:00 AM.
- We will have our next meeting on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:00 AM in Mrs. Chambers’ classroom - Room 203. Huddles (meetings) will be held monthly.
- A Parent/Guardian MUST park and walk their child to the front doors at Horizon. A club sponsor will be at the doors to welcome them. Doors will open at 6:50 AM.

Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is a running club for 3rd-5th grade girls. We focus on self-confidence, team building and conflict resolution skills all while having fun and being outside. Two days a week from 3-4:30.

Greenpower Team
Greenpower is a team at Horizon for 4th and 5th grade students. The selection process will be based on their application using a rubric reviewed by a committee. Greenpower will work together to build our car to race this year! We learn about presentations and topics associated with green power.
The team will meet every other Wednesday to begin the season. We will meet after school until 3:45. Every student MUST be picked up in the carline at 3:45. Late pickup could result in dismissal from the team.
In order to participate, students must follow our team commitment and expectations. Horizon Grows Club
The Horizon Grows Club is a fun and exciting place for students in First through Fifth grade to explore the world of plants and nature! Students gather to learn about growing and tending to plants and outdoor projects. They will plant seeds, water flowers, and help keep the school looking beautiful!

Horizon Safety Patrol
Horizon is excited to continue the Safety Patrol Program. The primary purpose of the program is to enhance the safety of our students. In addition, this program will promote the development of leadership skills and good citizenship qualities.
The Safety Patrol team will monitor students in the hallway. Safety Patrol students will ensure students walk in the halls in the morning and afternoon, ensure students are not using electronic devices (cell phones, tablets, etc.) during dismissal, and assist teachers by monitoring students in the cafeteria, gym, hallways, etc. during morning and afternoon dismissal.
Open to 3rd-5th grades.
First day: September 16, 2024
Must be able to be at school by 7:10 am and stay until 3 pm.
Must complete pre-enrollment form.

LEGO Robotics Team
FIRST LEGO League introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through fun, exciting, hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem solving experiences through a guided, global robotic program, helping today's students and teachers build a better future together.
FIRST is a highly competitive and demanding program that requires heavy parent commitment. There will be weekly after school meetings in addition to weekend meetings. Team space is limited, and students will be chosen through an application process including two teacher recommendations, an essay, and a parent questionnaire.
This team is limited to 3rd and 4th graders.

Madison City Friends is an organization dedicated to establishing a volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
