New Student Enrollment Is Now Open
Returning Student Enrollment will open in Mid-June.
Parents will receive an email notification with instructions on how to access the returning link via the parent Portal.
Welcome to Madison City Schools!
We are excited that you are joining Madison City Schools! As a new family, we know you may have questions about how to get enrolled, prepare for the upcoming school year, and discover the many opportunities available to your child. We’re happy you’re here and look forward to an enriching educational partnership. All enrollment for Madison City Schools is done exclusively online by the legal parent/legal guardian. (Use the link at the bottom of the page to access the online enrollment page.) For specific details on enrollment requirements, refer to the 2025-2026 Enrollment Requirements on the left side of this page.
Kindergarten Eligibility
If your child will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2025*, they are eligible to attend Kindergarten for the 2025–2026 school year. Important: If your child was enrolled in a Madison City Schools Pre-K classroom at the end of the 2024-2025 school year, do not use the links below. Instead, please register as a Returning Student when you receive the email regarding returning students.
State law requires that students are to be 6 on or before December 31st of the current school year, to enroll in first grade.
*An opinion of the Attorney General states in effect that under the common law one’s age is computed by including the day of birth so that a given age is attained the day before the birthday anniversary.
Before You Begin
To complete the online enrollment, you will need to upload several documents. Enrollment cannot be processed until all required documents are submitted and approved.

- Birth Certificate
- Alabama Immunization Record
- Photo ID of enrolling parent/guardian
- Custody Documentation (if applicable)
- Transcript or Most Recent Report Card
- Proof of Residency:
- Own - Submit current property tax receipt or deed in your name for the residence along with a current utility bill or receipt for start of service for gas, water, or electric service... NO CABLE or CELL PHONE BILLS
- Rent – Submit current lease or a month-to-month lease that reflects your name, lease terms, address and signature page must be signed by the homeowner and tenant along with a current utility bill or receipt for start of service for gas, water, or electric service... NO CABLE or CELL PHONE BILLS
- Sales Contracts - Those who have a contract or builder's contract (with an estimated closing date) on a home are REQUIRED to complete a Sales Contract Transfer Request form. This is available at the front desk. Email the completed form and contract prior to completing the enrollment process to mmlayne@madisoncity.k12.al.us
📝 Online Enrollment Process for New Student Enrollment (These are students who were not enrolled in Madison City Schools at the end of the 2024-2025 School Year)
- Select the enrollment link below.
- Create an account or log in using your existing email.
- If you already have a student in the district, use your existing login.
- If needed, click “Forgot Password” or use a different email address.
- If you already have a student in the district, use your existing login.
- Complete all sections of the Enrollment form, including uploading all required documents.
- Review your information. If there are any errors, the system will prompt you to correct them before you can submit.
- Enrollment approval can take up to two weeks or longer in the summer to be approved. You will receive an email once approved.
📅 2025–2026 School Year - New Student Enrollment
**** Please do not enroll for preschool until you have received notification from the preschool that your child has been accepted into the program.
