Madison City Schools

The Alabama Seal of Biliteracy is awarded to graduating seniors who during their studies in Madison City Schools prove proficiency in English and one or more other languages.
The achievement demonstrates the student's proficiency in both the social (speaking and listening) and academic (reading and writing) uses of language.

Purpose
• Validate a student's proficiency in English and one or more other languages
• Motivate students to grow beyond the novice level
• Evaluate a student's use of the language in addition to their knowledge about the language
• Develop a student's readiness for college and career opportunities
• Model global citizenship
