Greetings Everyone,

My name is Alicia Smith, and I am proud to serve as the school counselor and eS2S sponsor at Rainbow Elementary School. Since joining Rainbow in 2018, I have found my role both rewarding and inspiring, and I am excited to continue working alongside our amazing faculty, staff, students, and families.

I firmly believe in the power of encouragement, inspiration, and hope—and I strive to instill these values in every child I work with.

As the school counselor, I will be teaching guidance lessons to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. These lessons are based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) standards and focus on academic development, career awareness, and positive social/emotional skills.

In addition to classroom lessons, I will also offer small group sessions throughout the year. These groups are designed to help students build social skills and connect with peers who may share similar concerns or experiences. Please note: parental permission is required for group participation.

A little about me:
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, reading, and spending quality time with my family and friends. I also love playing with my dog, King!

Hello Rainbow Families!

I’m excited to begin my 5th year at Rainbow Elementary teaching our amazing English Learners (ELs)!

I grew up right here in Huntsville, where I also began my teaching career before spending eight wonderful years in Nashville. While in Nashville, I had the opportunity to teach English Language Learners from all over the world and gained a deep appreciation for the many cultures and traditions they brought to the classroom. Those experiences continue to shape the way I teach and connect with students today.

Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, going to concerts, exercising, and hiking—especially when I can spend time outdoors with friends and family.

I can't wait to meet all of my new students and continue teaching my returning learners! I’m looking forward to another great year of growth, learning, and celebrating the diverse backgrounds that make our school so special.
