• About ACCESS

ACCESS Virtual Learning (Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators, and Students Statewide) is an initiative of the Alabama State Department of Education designed to expand educational opportunities for public and private school students in grades 6–12 across Alabama.

Launched in 2006, ACCESS provides high-quality virtual instruction to help students engage in courses they may not otherwise have access to or be able to schedule within their local schools.

ACCESS is state-funded and provided at no cost to Alabama public schools, districts, and students. All courses are developed through the University of Alabama ACCESS Support Center and are aligned to the Alabama Course of Study State Standards, ensuring students receive instruction that meets rigorous academic expectations while supporting personalized learning pathways.

ACCESS courses are delivered using the Schoology Learning Management System (LMS) and are supported by three regional Support Centers across Alabama:

    ●        Madison City Schools Support Center – Serves North Alabama

    ●        University of Alabama Support Center – Serves Central Alabama

    ●        Troy University Support Center – Serves South Alabama, homeschool, and private school students

These centers collaborate closely with the Alabama State Department of Education to ensure consistent course delivery, instructional support, and comprehensive assistance for districts, schools, educators, and students across the state.
