Please click this link to read next week’s newsletter: February 19-23 Thank you for taking the time to read the newsletter each week!

Please send the green practice folder on Tuesday. Thank you!

Thank you for returning your child’s signed progress report.

You may have noticed that your child’s second 95% Phonics workbook came home in their backpack this week. As we discussed at Parent Night, this is a great resource for extra practice at home! I encourage you to look through this book and have your child practice reading the sentences, passages, and stories. I would also encourage you to look at their letter practice for any errors, and have them practice writing those letters neatly with correct formation and orientation to the line.

On Thursday, February 29th, Columbia will be celebrating Family Reading Night! The theme is “Lights, Camera, READ!” If you would like to order shirts for this event, click this link: Shirts If you would like to donate supplies for this event, sign up at this link: Family Reading Night Supplies

We've had the best week! I really enjoyed our study of American Symbols. We learned about the U.S. Flag, the bald eagle, and the Statue of Liberty. My students listened so well as we read several nonfiction texts throughout the week. They picked two facts they learned from our reading of each symbol to write in their book. You will want to make sure to put it in your box of Kindergarten treasures because they've worked so hard on it this week.

Thank you for being such supportive parents. I love being with your children each day. Have a great long weekend!
