Monday, August 26th

Just a reminder that our class had a substitute today as I had an important, unavoidable dental procedure today. I will be back in the classroom tomorrow!

Last week, we attended a Library orientation lesson with Mrs. Nguyen, our school librarian. Today our class returned to the library as a class for a book care lesson and to check out books. Your child’s first library book is coming home inside his/her backpack today! Your child can keep the book at home for a day or two and then bring it back to school and check out a new book. Tomorrow, I will teach the children the classroom procedures for letting me know they are ready for a new book. I am not allowed to search their backpacks, so when they are ready for a new book, they need to take it out of their backpack in the morning and put it in our classroom “Library Book” bucket. Happy Reading!

If your family successfully completed the August Challenge (on the August Newsletters all month long) on 4 out of 5 school nights each week of August, please send a note on August 30th that says, “__ completed the August challenge.” When I receive the note on Friday, your child will receive two Good Time tickets.  Just so you know, the reward for completing the challenge will vary each month.

Friday will be a half day of school for students. Students will be dismissed at 11:00. I sent a Google form last week. Please complete the form no later than tomorrow. The email was sent to all email contacts I have on our list, however, I only need one response per student. Thank you!

The Class Shirt order form and fee are due on Wednesday. The shirt costs $6. We will wear it several times this school year. Please consider buying a class shirt.

School Picture Day is Thursday. These are the pictures that will be used in the yearbook.

A note about the Grandparents Day Lunch on September 5th and 6th will come home with your child tomorrow. Grandparents are welcome to attend on either day.
