Throughout the past few weeks we have focused on- getting to know each other, learning our classroom expectations and understanding what it will take to be the best kindergarten students we can be! I tell the students each morning during our morning meeting that we are a family, we will grow, learn and love together! We are continuing to learn procedures and discuss our expectations as a class. We have made numerous posters that will serve as reminders for our expectations and goals. We made a peacemaker/peace breaker poster, a good listeners poster and a De-bug poster (steps for what to do if someone is bothering you). Having structure and organization in a classroom is essential for a positive learning environment. We also discussed the importance of doing our best with all our work. We had a lesson on creating a “Three Star” paper! The students and I discussed what it takes when coloring to earn a “Three Star” paper. Our guidelines for coloring include: coloring in the lines, leaving no white space, using colors that make sense and using three or more colors. Every time the students color they will be encouraged to create a “Three Star” paper! Happy Coloring! I will share pictures of these posters on your child's SeeSaw portfolio.
Tonight is Spirit Night at Panera Bread from 4:00-8:00. A flyer and sticker came home with your child today for this event.
I had a substitute yesterday, as your child may have told you, to finish administering the DIBELs assessment to 2nd grade students. Thank you for your understanding! I will also have a substitute this upcoming Monday, August 26th, for an important dentist appointment and procedure. We have had and will continue to have the same substitute that all of the children are familiar with to help with consistency. She is very familiar with the students, my classroom routines and procedures, and Kindergarten instruction. I hope this will be my last absence from the classroom for a while! :)
Please, please check and empty your child’s Daily Folder each day. Thank you!
Please allow your child to practice opening items they are bringing for lunch and snack. Send snack daily (one food item and water only).
We will visit the computer lab every Tuesday and Thursday. Please allow your child to practice typing their username and password several times a day until they can do it independently. This is very challenging for the children, extra practice will allow your child to log on quickly without having to wait for assistance, therefore, having more computer time! :)
Class shirt orders are due next Wednesday, August 28th. Our class shirts will be green. As we discussed at Parent Night, we will wear the shirts multiple times this school year, so you will definitely get your money's worth. Please be sure to turn in your child's form with the payment. I am receiving payments, but I am unsure about the t-shirt size needed and the important information the company needs to have due to not receiving many of the completed forms. Thank you!
