Throughout the past few weeks we have focused on- getting to know each other, learning our classroom expectations and understanding what it will take to be the best kindergarten students we can be! I tell the students each morning during our morning meeting that we are a family, we will grow, learn and love together! We are continuing to learn procedures and discuss our expectations as a class. We have made numerous posters that will serve as reminders for our expectations and goals. We made a peacemaker/peace breaker poster, a good listeners poster and a De-bug poster (steps for what to do if someone is bothering you). Having structure and organization in a classroom is essential for a positive learning environment. We also discussed the importance of doing our best with all our work. We had a lesson on creating a “Three Star” paper! The students and I discussed what it takes when coloring to earn a “Three Star” paper. Our guidelines for coloring include: coloring in the lines, leaving no white space, using colors that make sense and using three or more colors. Every time the students color they will be encouraged to create a “Three Star” paper! Happy Coloring! I will share pictures of these posters on your child's SeeSaw portfolio.
Tomorrow night is Spirit Night at Panera Bread. There is a flyer with details in your child's folder today. I know I am looking forward to a night of not cooking and supporting our school at the same time! ;)
I will have a substitute tomorrow and Wednesday to administer the DIBELS test to other kindergarten classes. Remember to send any time sensitive information in the Daily Folder. The sub will not be able to access my email.
Please, please check and empty your child’s Daily Folder each day. Thank you!
Please allow your child to practice opening items they are bringing for lunch and snack. Send snack daily (one food item and water only).
We will visit the computer lab every Monday and Friday. Please allow your child to practice typing their username and password several times a day until they can do it independently. This is very challenging for the children, extra practice will allow your child to log on quickly without having to wait for assistance, therefore, having more computer time! :)
Class shirt orders are due next Wednesday, August 28th. Our class shirts will be red. As we discussed at Parent Night, we will wear the shirts multiple times this school year, so you will definitely get your money's worth. Thank you!
