MCS Summer Learning Programs 2024

 

Summer learning programs in Madison City Schools for 2024 were approved by the Board of Education at its March 7 meeting. Eligibility is tied to student academic need. (More information to follow).
The programs highlighted by the Instruction Department are as follows:

The Elementary EL Summer Camp will be at Midtown June 3 - June 27 from 8 am to 1:30 pm. Transportation will be provided. Breakfast and lunch will not be provided. We will have food packs on hand in the event that a student forgets to bring lunch. 


The
Secondary EL Summer Camp will be at James Clemens June 3 - June 27 from 8:15 am to 1:15 pm. Transportation will be provided. Breakfast and lunch will not be provided. We will have food packs on hand in the event that a student forgets to bring lunch. 

The Elementary Summer Learning Program for K-5 reading and math will be at Midtown June 3 - June 27 from 8 am to 1:30 pm. Transportation will be provided. Breakfast and lunch will not be provided. We will have food packs on hand in the event that a student forgets to bring lunch. 

Middle School Summer School will be held at Journey June 3 - June 27 from 8 am to noon. Students are invited to attend based on the greatest academic need. Middle School Summer School tuition is $200. Courses offered include 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math and English. Transportation, breakfast, and lunch will not be provided. We will have food packs on hand in the event that a student forgets to bring lunch. 

High School Summer School will run June 3 through July 18 at both Bob Jones and James Clemens. Tuition fees for a half credit are $75 while fees for a full credit are $150 for MCS students. Out of district student tuition fees are $100 per half credit and $175 per full credit. Students can choose from Career Prep, Health, PE, Government, and Economics. The following courses are available for credit recovery: English 9-12, Biology, Physical Science, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics, Algebra I with Probability, Geometry with Data Analysis, Algebra II with Statistics, World History, US History I, US History II, Government, and Economics. Driver's Education is available in three different sessions beginning June 3 and concluding July 19. Tuition fees are $150. ACT Bootcamp is offered online from June 3 - June 27. Tuition fees are $150. Transportation, breakfast, and lunch will not be provided. We will have food packs on hand in the event that a student forgets to bring lunch. 

Elementary ESY will be held at Columbia June 3 - June 27 from 8:00 am - 1:30 pm. Transportation will be provided upon request. Breakfast and lunch will not be provided. We will have food packs on hand in the event that a student forgets to bring lunch. 

Secondary ESY will be held at Journey from June 3 - June 27 from 8:00 am - 1:30 pm. Transportation will be provided upon request. Breakfast and lunch will not be provided. We will have food packs on hand in the event that a student forgets to bring lunch.

The summer learning showcase will be held the morning of June 25. During that time, our Board of Education will have an opportunity to visit all of our summer programs. More information will be provided in June.
