2022 CLAS Convention
The Madison City ACCESS Support Center represented ACCESS Virtual Learning at the 2022 CLAS Convention in Birmingham, AL on June 13-14, 2022. Thank you to all that visited us! Congratulations to Chris Hanson, Principal at Piedmont Middle School, winner of our ACCESS goodie bag!
504 Coordinators' Conference
The Madison City ACCESS Support Center provided an exhibit booth for the 27th Annual Alabama Association of 504 Coordinators Conference held at the Marriott Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama from December 9-10, 2021. Two door prizes were offered to those present at the conference, which included goodies from ACCESS.

Alabama Counseling Association Conference
The Madison City ACCESS Support Center provided an exhibit booth for the 55th Annual Alabama Counseling Association Conference held at the Sheraton Hotel BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama from November 17-19, 2021. Two door prizes were offered to those present at the conference which included ACCESS swag goodies.

Madison City Support Center hosts Professional Development Seminar
On Wednesday, September 15, 2021, the Madison City Support Center for ACCESS Virtual Learning in conjunction with the Center for Assistive Technology Training (CATT), a partnership with the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB), and the American Printing House for the Blind (APH), hosted a live and virtual full day Professional Development Seminar for ACCESS teachers and administrators at the Madison City Schools Board of Education. This Professional Learning opportunity awarded six continuing education units-CEUs needed by teachers for recertification when their teaching certificates expire.
Dr. Susie Thomas (pictured middle) of CATT presented devices for students with Visual Impairments and Low Vision. Her devices consisted of Braille readers, screen readers, magnifiers, and devices for communication within classes and courses for secondary students enrolled in ACCESS classes. Devices included Zoom text, JAWS, Fusion, MATT Connect, Mantis and Chameleon, and BrailleNote Touch.
Dr. Maria Kilgore (pictured right), Director of Madison City ACCESS Support Center presented accommodations within Individual Educational Plans IEPs, Section 504 Plans and English Language Learner Plans ELL.
Alicia Brown (pictured left), Associate Director of Academics, from the Troy University ACCESS Support Center presented on accommodating tests within ACCESS classes for students with disabilities. Her video detailed step by step directions with examples. All information was shared with in person and virtual attendees.
Joe Goble, Head of State Department of Education SDE, ACCESS SDE Virtual Learning, Administrator Steve Blair, and MJ Ballard, Education Specialist from the ACCESS SDE were also in attendance.
