Bob Jones High School will soon get a new Special Education (SPED) wing for the school district's east Madison feeder pattern.
The Madison City Board of Education approved a $6.89 million bid for the SPED addition at its July 1 meeting, The addition will be on the north side of campus by the bus loop.
The construction package also includes a new marquee with electronic sign board at the main entrance of Hughes Road, improved lighting throughout the school's exterior, and landscaping improvements.
The current BJHS stone marker at the Hughes Road entrance will be relocated to near the north entrance off Eastview Drive.
Frank Nola with Nola VanPeursem Architects, gave a brief overview of the project and said efforts will be made to minimize traffic disruptions. Construction is expected to begin around the beginning of this school year and be complete around the start of next school year.
