JMS Math Teach Mrinal Joshi Wins Top Space Club Award

Journey Middle School teacher Mrinal Joshi was recognized at tonight's Madison City School Board meeting for being named Educator of the Year by the National Space Club.
National Space Club officers Terry Able and Julie Savage spoke about the prestigious and highly competitive award, which was presented to Mrs. Joshi last night at a packed Von Braun Memorial Dinner event.
"Mrs. Joshi was up against some extremely notable STEM educators. It was clear to the National Space Club that she invests so much into her students and math team. She believes in her kids. She provides every possible opportunity to succeed. Her kids are so much better in this world for having had her as a teacher and Mrs. Joshi truly gives them the foundation, drive, and belief in themselves to want to continue math-related pursuits in life," read a statement from the NSC.

Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols and board members commended Mrs. Joshi for her dedicated math teaching and drive to bring out the best in her students.
In addition to a financial award by the NSC, Mrs. Joshi also earned a separate grant from the National Defense Industrial Association (Tennessee Valley Chapter) which she plans to use to cover math competition fees for her students.
