Welcome to the Liberty Middle School Scholars Bowl page! We are excited about entering the fall season and working our way toward the spring with the goal of capturing the district and state championships to grab a trip to the nationals in Chicago. There is a long way to go to reach this goal, but the talent is in our hallways. It's all about putting the right group(s) together to make it happen. Scholars Bowl is a fun game of answering questions in a quick, but witty fashion and receiving more points than your opponent. It's fun & challenging! If you're interested in joining, come see me in Room 213, and we can discuss the classes and the SB competition team.
A huge Lion roar goes to our sixth grade team for beating rival Discovery 400-300 to capture the sixth-grade state championship on Jan. 27 at Wallace State CC in Hanceville. Representing the team were Oliver Baker (captain); Eiliyah Hafiez; Levi Jordan; Prachi Khadka; William Kimberl; and second-place medalist Colin Krefting.
Kudos to our 7th & 8th-grade team for being selected to represent our state at the Alabama Public Television Scholars Bowl in Montgomery on Jan. 13, as our episode recently aired February 25. Team members were Max Causey, Amaan Musani, Wyatt Pieratt, Shaurya Singh, and Avani Narayan. We finished fourth in our recent district tournament at Liberty. Team members worked extremely hard with so many practices under their belt and brought home a pair of third-place finishes in the regular season against some extremely tough teams. I'm so proud of our team of Causey, Musani, Pieratt, Singh, Narayan, Nikhita Katragadda, and Joel Yang. I will certainly miss my five eighth graders who have been such an integral part of this team the last two years and have hopefully passed the torch for future Liberty Lion success!
It truly is an honor to coach these young men and women, and I always want to give a shout out to their parents for their constant love and support along the way!
Mr. Clifton
