Claire McIlwain
Hey there! My name is Claire McIlwain (Ms.Mac), and I'm a first year art teacher at Liberty Middle School. I'm excited to share my passion for art and creativity with all of you! Together, we'll dive into various art forms and explore exciting techniques like acrylic paint, watercolors, pastels, charcoal, and more.
About Me: Originally from Clinton, Mississippi, I graduated from the Mississippi School of the Arts before making my way to north Alabama. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Art from the University of North Alabama, and I completed the teacher preparation program at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, earning my Art Education certification.
Creating art has always been my passion, with a special focus on digital art and illustration using Procreate on my iPad. Besides art, I love swing dancing, reading, and spending time with my family and adorable chihuahua, Daisy.
Art has a special place in everyone's life, and I'm here to help you find the kind of art that resonates with you. We're going to have a great year, and I can't wait to see the amazing artwork we'll create together!
For my class, you'll need:
- A binder with white copy paper (or a real sketchbook if you prefer; I highly encourage it!) for sketching and taking notes.
- Pocket folder to keep handouts if you choose to bring your own sketchbook.
- Wooden pencils
- White eraser
- Handheld pencil sharpener
- Colored pencils (optional, but encouraged)
