Mr. David Clifton

I am what you would call a "Jack of all trades" or a "Man wearing many hats." I teach eighth grade Honors English, Scholars Bowl I & II, Creative Writing I, and Environmental Science. I truly enjoy getting to teach a wide variety of students with varying interests, as I get to combine my passions for reading, writing, the outdoors, and academic competition. I am also the Liberty Scholars Bowl coach.

I particularly enjoy the grammar and literature components of English/Language Arts and enjoy watching my students broaden their horizons through creative writing. I was taught at a young age to enjoy the world around us and feel blessed to have our outdoor classroom to help students learn about our beautiful environment.

I was born and raised in Alabama but spent several years in Texas as a sports reporter and journalist. I was even named Sports Writer of the Year, but my biggest prize was meeting my wonderful, fantastic wife, Rachel. She is a fifth-grade teacher, and we have a precious 4-year-old daughter and a loyal 14-year-old chihuahua named Bowie.

Outside of spending time with my wife and daughter, I enjoy everything about baseball. I've played and coached the sport and am currently a middle and high school umpire. I also attend Alabama football games on a regular basis. Roll Tide! My mother is a retired teacher and was one of the biggest reasons I got into the profession. I love each day I get to spend at Liberty Middle School. Roar Lions!
