Mrs. Christa Landingham
Greetings! I am honored to teach first grade at Columbia Elementary School. Most of my life has been dedicated to academia. I graduated with honors from Buckhorn High School in 1993 and obtained my BA in Political Science and Spanish with a pre-law concentration in 1998. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the UAH Honors Program after working as a student aide in the Education Department and as a Spanish tutor.
I met and married my husband, Adam, after I graduated from UAH. We met while working in Research Administration where I administered UAH contracts awarded via the federal government. Adam got his first teaching position in 1999 at the Academy for Science and Foregin Language (ASFL). He is about to wrap up his 22nd year of teaching.
Adam and I have 15 year old twins, Benjamin and Julian, who are students at Bob Jones. We also have two dogs, Griffin and Shepard. We have called Madison home for our entire marriage (22 years) and he has lived here for his entire life.
When our children were young, I did a lot of freelance work and consulting in business development with an education angle (employee training, teaching business development seminars, etc.). From 2014-2018 I had the unique honor of being a home school educator as well. I planned and executed lessons for my children grades 2-5 and for collectives and cooperatives for grades K-6. I have also served on PTA every year my children have attended public school. I have coached a Destination Imagination team and have served as a trainer and educator/mentor in almost every role I have had in my professional life. During the final year of my master's program, I worked at UAH in cybersecurity developing curricula. I always dreamed of being a teacher and decided to work towards that goal when my children became teenagers.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from UAH with a Master of Art in Teaching degree with an Elementary Education focus in December of 2021. I am passionate about student-first, research based teaching practices. My five year plan includes completion of my National Board certification and research in interdisciplinary curricula and its impact on student outcomes.
