Ms. Macey Beaty
My name is Macey Beaty and I am a first-grade teacher at Columbia Elementary School. I was born in Athens, Alabama and grew up in Houston, Texas. I graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Elementary Education (K-6) and a General Sciences concentration (7-12) from Mississippi State University in April of 2021. Following that, I led myself to what I desired most, to return to my hometown and begin my teaching career.
I am truly honored to be a part of your first grader's learning this year. I am an educator that emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as one that looks at each student holistically. I believe every student has the innate ability to learn, and that with the right teacher, all other boundaries can be overcome. I am a big believer in classroom collaboration and the importance of making content and contexts in the classroom both meaningful and relevant. If you were to step into my classroom, you would see a strong positive classroom community above all, with sensory learning and student growth stemming from that.
In my free time, I enjoy yoga, going to farmer's markets in Huntsville, attending live music shows, and thrift shopping. I do not yet have any pets, but I have a desire to rescue a cat in the near future. Despite Mississippi State being my alma mater (Hail State!), I am also a University of Texas (Hook Em') and Auburn fan (War Eagle!). My favorite sports are women's basketball, soccer, and baseball. I also love attending MLB games for the Astros and ringing my cowbell at a football game in Davis Wade Stadium.
