Welcome to Second Grade!

My name is Megan Gowan. I am so excited to be part of the second grade teaching team at Heritage Elementary! It's going to be a great year!

I graduated from Purdue University with a major in elementary education.  I worked with the Purdue Gifted Education Resource Institute for several years as an assistant and course instructor in their Super Saturday/Super Summer programs. I taught kindergarten and first grade in Indianapolis, IN.  After teaching in Indianapolis, I moved to Madison, AL and taught third grade at Heritage, then at Mill Creek, for several years.  I made full circle, joining the Heritage Family once again as a second grade teacher!

I love sports, the beach, hiking, traveling to new places, and spending time with my family.  I am married to my wonderful husband, Adam, and we have three awesome children. 

In the classroom, I am a strong believer in hands-on learning.  Science and math are passions of mine, and I love to incorporate them into all of our subjects! I have been a trainer for the AMSTI modules in the past, helping teachers navigate the wonderful units!

As parents and teachers, we are working to develop our children into life-long learners. I look forward to working with my classroom of families to develop this love in our children!
