Hello fellow music lovers! I am very excited about being Midtown's music teacher! I love teaching music! In fact, I have been teaching music in Madison City Schools since 2006! I have had the privilege of teaching or working at each elementary school in some capacity or another. However, my two home schools where I am normally based are Heritage and Midtown.
I love to learn! I strive to continuously study and research new aspects of music to add to my teaching methodology and repertoire! For example, we have begun the new venture of learning ukulele in fourth and fifth grades! A generous couple helped receive a grant for 40 waterproof Makala ukuleles for our students to use!
Before becoming a teacher, I attended the University of Alabama Huntsville on scholarship with concentrations in clarinet, voice & saxophone. Over the years, I have enjoyed playing in wind ensembles, jazz bands, jazz combos, woodwind quintets, percussion ensembles, theater productions and singing in choirs!
Personally, I am married with two beautiful twin step-daughters. We have a very sweet, hyper-active dog named Milo and 2 parakeets named Brucie and Xander that are best buddies. In my spare time, I enjoy playing instruments, attending concerts, going to the beach, going on walks, dancing, swimming, kayaking, shopping, volunteering, recycling, arts & crafts, hiking, hammocking, badminton, volleyball, scrapbooking, riding horses, crossword puzzles, word games, and amusement parks!
