Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Kylie Dunkerley

My name is Kylie Dunkerley. Welcome to a wonderful new year of learning! I began my teaching journey at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama where I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood, Special Education, and Collaborative Teaching.

I have lived in Madison since I was 3 years old attending West Madison Elementary, Madison Elementary, Liberty Middle, and Bob Jones High School. It is my privilege to be a product of the Madison City School System and return to give back to the community that has helped me become who I am. I started teaching for Madison City in 2004 at Heritage Elementary teaching 4th grade for my first two years and then teaching 5th grade for three years. I transferred in 2009 to become part of the Mill Creek family where I taught 4th grade for 8 years. I am now a Columbia Astro teaching 3rd grade. I hope that the knowledge I have gained through my experience will provide for a fun, positive, learning environment that will challenge your child to reach new goals to become a better student and citizen!

I am married to my middle school sweetheart, Max. I have 5 children – a stepdaughter Lauren who is a Sophomore at the University of Alabama, a daughter Maycie who is in 9th grade atBob Jones High School, a stepson Max who is in 7th grade at Discovery Middle, a daughter Jillian who is in 5th grade at Columbia Elementary, and a daughter Emsley who is in 3rd grade at Columbia Elementary. I enjoy cheering on the Crimson Tide, playing with my children, crafting, running, and hanging out at the pool. Teaching for Madison City has been a wonderful experience. I have also enjoyed coaching volleyball and softball at both Discovery and Liberty Middle School in the past.

This year I will be teaching Math and Science so bring those journals and join me for an amazing trek through learning! In Math, students will be using the Envision series in addition to some AMSTI math activities. In Science this year, students will be using our science curriculum Stemscopes in addition to AMSTI science kits, which are hands on science activities. Some of the topics students will learn about this year include: Heredity and Diversity, Weather and Climate, and Forces and Interactions. We will also be using Schoology as our learning platform, and Clever to access learning resources.

I look forward to working with you this year. If you ever have any questions or would like a conference, please feel free to email me at
