Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Kylie Dunkerley

My name is Kylie Dunkerley. Welcome to a wonderful new year of learning! I began my teaching journey at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood, Special Education, and Collaborative Teaching.

I have lived in Madison since I was 3 years old attending West Madison Elementary, Madison Elementary, Liberty Middle, and Bob Jones High School. It is my privilege to be a product of the Madison City School System and return to give back to the community that has helped me become who I am. I started teaching for Madison City in 2004 at Heritage Elementary teaching 4th grade for my first two years and then teaching 5th grade for three years. I transferred in 2009 to become part of the Mill Creek family where I taught 4th grade for 8 years. I am now a Columbia Astro teaching 5th grade. I hope that the knowledge I have gained through my experience will provide for a fun, positive, learning environment that will challenge your child to reach new goals to become a better student and citizen!

I was married to my middle school sweetheart, Max, who passed away Summer of 2022. I have 5 children – a stepdaughter Lauren who graduated from the University of Alabama, a daughter Maycie who is in 12th grade at Bob Jones High School, a stepson Max who is in 10th grade at Bob Jones High School, a daughter Jillian who is in 8th grade at Discovery Middle, and a daughter Emsley who is in 6th grade at Discovery Middle. I also have two dogs - a miniature Dachshund, Cookie, and a Chiweenie, Ginger. I enjoy being with my family, cheering on the Crimson Tide, crafting, running, scuba diving, and hanging out at the pool. Teaching for Madison City has been a wonderful experience. I have also enjoyed coaching volleyball and softball at both Discovery and Liberty Middle School in the past.

My goal is for us to feel like family by the end of the school year - inside and outside of the classroom! It takes a village to raise a child and we will definitely have to be on the same team to have a successful year. I cannot wait for you to get to know me and my family as we go through this 5th-grade adventure together!

I look forward to working with you this year. If you ever have any questions or would like a conference, please feel free to email me at kjdunkerley@madisoncity.k12.al.us or call the school 256-430-2751.
