I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Auburn University.
I continued my education and received a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Alabama A and M Universtiy in 1992. In 2016, I received my Educational Leadership Certificate.
I was trained as part of the "Sweet 16" in 1998 by the Alabama Reading Initiative. I have been recertified with ARI and attended ARI Reading Coach Internship.
I have been trained in AMSTI Math 6th grade year 1 and 2, and I have also received training in AMSTI Science 6th grade year 1 and 2.
Currently, I am participating in LETRS professional development.
I began teaching in 1988 at Lee Street Elementary in Jonesboro, Georgia. I taught sixth grade science and language arts. In 1989 I moved to Alabama and began teaching fifth and sixth grade at Walnut Grove School in New Market. I taught Math and language arts during my time at Walnut Grove. In 1998 I began teaching fifth grade science and language arts at Discovery Middle School in the newly created Madison City Schools. Horizon Elementary has been my home since 1999. While at Horizon I have taught fifth and sixth grade. I have experience teaching science, math, and language arts. I have been Horizon's Reading Coach since 2007.
I am originally from Decatur, Georgia. In 1989 I moved to Alabama. My husband Bill is employed at Boeing. We have two children. My son enjoys pitching for his baseball team. My daughter is a recent collage graduate.
Our family has a sweet little attack dog named Lucy. She enjoys sleeping, eating, and barking.
We enjoy traveling and attending sporting events. War Eagle!
