Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "Do one thing everyday that scares you." When I joined the Academy several years ago, I did not realize that this would become my teaching matra. So many students are afraid to try. They are afraid of success, and they are more afraid of failure. As a teacher, it is my goal to walk with them through those fears. We are a family. Some days, I am a teacher. Some days, I am a counselor. Some days, I am a mom. Together, we make something happen. Every student in my classroom is one of my kids, and all I want for them is the very best.
I have a son of my own, Canaan. He is my pride and joy. While he is now 6'5" and out of school, he will always be my baby. I also have my other baby, Perry. He is my dog. Canaan also has a turtle, three cats, and a rabbit. Yes, we have a small zoo.
